Kelly P., Preschool Director

Level of education: Bachelor’s Degree

Kelly has enjoyed providing services to families and children since entering college.  In 1999, she received a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology, with a Human Services/Counseling concentration and a Minor in Family and Consumer Sciences from Liberty University.  During her studies she also focused on child development to further equip her desire and ability to serve children.

Kelly has been involved in the field of foster care, interim care and adoption, both working and volunteering, since 1996.  She has worked as a Behavioral Therapist serving children in foster care.  She also coordinated adoptions, working with both birth families and adoptive families, for licensed adoption agencies in Virginia, Tennessee and North Carolina, and was Agency Director in North Carolina and Tennessee.  Additionally, she served on various boards for pregnancy centers, adoption coalitions and adoption agencies.

Kelly has been an active member of Open Door Church since 2004.  In March 2009, Open Door asked her to begin a part-time weekday preschool as an outreach ministry of the church.  The weekday preschool opened its doors that same year to new students and families on September 7.  The Lord has continued to grow the weekday preschool from one class of three and four year olds in 2009 to its current program of 12 weekday preschool classes caring for children aged eight weeks old through five years old and a preschool summer program.

Kelly, and her husband Jason, both enjoy working in ministry.  They are blessed with two adult children.  Together they desire to help families who will lovingly and boldly impact our culture for the Kingdom of God.
